FLUTE: Laurel Tempas - (630) 887-8399

Laurel Tempas is a private flute instructor in the western Chicago suburbs. She attended Northwestern Univeristy where she recieved her Bachelor of Music Education and Master of Music in Flute Performance degrees. Her flute professors include Emil Eck and Walfrid Kujala, both former players with the Chicago Symphony OrchestraLaurel currently performs with the Symphony of Oak Park and River Forest, as well as the Salt Creek Sinfonietta. When the West Suburban Symphony Orchestra went on a recent tour of England, she played principal flute. She is the former principal flute with the Wheaton Municipal Band and has also performed with the Wheaton Symphony Orchestra and the Wind Harmonies Woodwind Octet. In addition, Laurel is a member of the music faculty at Lewis University and an adjudicator for the Illinois Music Educator's Association district and state level band auditions.Laurel comprises half of the flute/harp duo "Heather Harmonies", performing Celtic music in several local venues.

CLARINET: Andrea DiOrio - (630) 881-8611 or andreadiorio@yahoo.com

Andrea is an active freelance clarinetist and private teacher in the Chicagoland area.  She has performed with many orchestras including the Lyric Opera of Chicago, Grant Park Orchestra, Quad City Symphony, Chicago Opera Theater, Elgin Symphony Orchestra, and Ravinia Festival Orchestra.  Andrea is the clarinetist and Artistic Administrator for the MAVerick Ensemble, a contemporary chamber music ensemble in Chicago.  In addition to her freelance schedule Andrea enjoys teaching Music Appreciation for Benedictine's Moser College of Adult and Professional Studies.  Andrea is also the clarinet instructor at Loyola University Chicago and North Central College in Naperville.

Andrea has studied clarinet with Charlene Zimmerman, J. David Harris, Russell Dagon, and John Bruce Yeh.  She earned her Master of Music degree in performance, from Northwestern University, her Bachelor of Music degree with honors, in performance, from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.  Andrea feels very fortunate to have had such great teachers and mentors, and she is delighted to have the opportunity to pass on what she has learned to all of her students.

 

 

SAXOPHONE: Ryan Muncy - (812) 786-2031 or rdmuncy@gmail.com

Ryan Muncy is currently a candidate for the Doctor of Music degree at Northwestern University in the class of Frederick L. Hemke. As a 2003-04 Fulbright Grantee, Muncy studied at the Conservatoire National de Région de Musique, Cergy-Pontoise, with Jean-Yves Fourmeau and continued musical studies in France as a 2006-07 recipient of the Harriet Hale Woolley Award at the Conservatoire National de Région, Boulogne-Billancourt, in the class of Jean-Michel Goury. Previously, Ryan earned degrees from Ball State University and Bowling Green State University.

Ryan is a member of Ensemble Dal Niente, a Chicago-based contemporary music ensemble, and Anubis Quartet, a new-generation modular saxophone ensemble, and has performed in major cultural centers of Paris, Montreal, Osaka, Florence, and Bangkok.
In addition, Muncy has performed with the Grant Park, Toledo, and Muncie Symphony Orchestras, and was a collaborator on America’s Millennium Tribute to Adolphe Sax, Vol. 5, which received a first-round Grammy Award nomination. 

 

TRUMPET: Paul Lowry - (773) 412-7891 or Lowry229@hotmail.com

A native of Cartersville, Georgia, Paul Lowry holds a Masters of Music degree in Performance from Florida State University where he studied with Dr. Christopher Moore and a Bachelor’s degree in Music Performance from West Virginia University where he studied with Dr. John Winkler.  Mr. Lowry has won numerous solo competitions, including first prize at the MTNA National Brass competition and at state and regional MTNA competitions.  Mr. Lowry was also a finalist, finishing runner-up, at the National Trumpet Competition in 2004.

Mr. Lowry joined the Second City Brass quintet as a founding member in 2008 performing extensively in and around the Chicago area.  Mr. Lowry is also a member of the Windy City Brass and has performed with that group since 2007.  Mr. Lowry currently holds the position of principal trumpet with the Carroll Symphony Orchestra, a post he has held since the 2002-2003 season.  Mr. Lowry has also served as associate principal trumpet with the Westmoreland Symphony Orchestra in Greensberg, PA; principal trumpet with the Etowah Chamber Orchestra in Taylorsville, GA; and was appointed  principal trumpet of the Albany Symphony Orchestra in Albany, GA for the 2005-2006 season.  In 2006, Mr. Lowry was principal trumpet of the Carl Rosa Opera Company which toured North America performing in 43 states and Canada.  In addition Mr. Lowry has performed in venues such as The Kennedy Center, Washington, D.C., The Fox Theatre, Atlanta, GA, and the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts in West Palm Beach, FL.    

Mr. Lowry currently teaches at The Merit School of Music where he is a professor of trumpet and music theory.  In addition Mr. Lowry will be an adjunct professor of trumpet at Vandercook University for the 2008 fall term.  He has held similar positions at the Florida State University as a graduate Teaching Assistant and as an adjunct professor at the North Florida Community College in Madison, Florida. 

 

FRENCH HORN: Mike Indykiewicz - (815) 838-4467

Michael is originally from Lockport.  He is retired from the "President's Own" United States Marine Band."   He performed for President's Reagan, Bush, and Clinton. Michael received his bachelor's degree in music from Illinois State University in horn performance and did graduate work at Chicago's Musical College.  His primary teacher's were Frank Brouk and Dale Clevenger of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
 

Michael has an extensive orchestral background. First playing with the Civic Orchestra of Chicago (Chicago Symphony's training orchesrtra). Then he played professionally with the Omaha Symphony, Nashville Symphony, and National Symphony Orchestra's. Michael has performed on stage with many prominent artists, some which include:  Tony Bennett, Ray Charles, Placido Domingo, Yo Yo Ma, Henry Mancini, Manhiem Steamroller, The Moody Blues Band, and Doc Severinsen. Michael is currently very active musically in the Lockport and surrounding area's.  Besides a very active french horn studio he also teaches piano and organ lessons.  He also is currently the church organist at Shepherd of the Hill Church in Lockport. 

 

TROMBONE: Henry Salgado - (773) 802-4724 or hsalbone@aol.com

Trombonist Henry Salgado established himself on the Chicago scene while working on his Jazz Studies degree at Depaul University. He began subbing in the pit orchestras of the Goodman Theatre,Marriott Lincolnshire and the Drury Lane Oakbrook.
Salgado has also performed with many top entertainers including Josh Groban, Aretha Franklin, Frankie Valli, Kurt Elling, Johnny Mathis, Mel Torme, Rita Moreno, Della Reese and the Doc Severinsen Orchestra.
As a studio musician Henry has recorded over 100 Radio & TV commercials and has playing credits on these original movie soundtracks; Big Night, Imposters, Secret Lives of Dentists and Hamlet directed by Cambell Scott. More info on IMDB.COM
Henry Salgado is currently a member of the Chicago Jazz Philharmonic Orchestra and recorded on its debut CD "Collective Creativity".

 

EUPHONIUM/TUBA: Katheryn Aucremann - (727) 709-7494

Katie Aucremann teaches euphonium, tuba, and trombone at Lockport High School. She is a 2005 graduate of Wheaton College with a Bachelor of Music Education degree and is currently studying for her Masters Degree in Euphonium Performance at Northwestern University. In addition to teaching at Lockport, Katie also has studios at Libertyville High School and Waubansie Valley High School. She is also on the marching band staff at Wheaton North High School where she teaches the drum majors and brass. Katie was the 2005 winner of the Wheaton College Concerto Competition, winds and percussion division, and a finalist in the 2007 Midwest Regional Tuba Euphonium Conference Excerpt Competition. Katie is currently principal euphonium in the Symphonic Wind Ensemble at Northwestern as well as member and librarian of the Northshore Concert Band.

 

PERCUSSION: Dan Davis - (850) 264.2482 or DanDavisis@gmail.com

Dan Davis currently resides in Chicago, IL where he freelances as a  percussion performer and educator. Dan performs with orchestras throughout the Midwest and has performed, recorded and toured with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra as an extra/substitute percussionist. As a drum set artist Dan has performed with jazz/rock/pop bands throughout Chicago and is currently working on a solo project with B.B. King's protogé, DeBorah Boston. In 2008, Dan earned a Master's degree in Percussion Performance and Literature from Northwestern University.  While at NU, Dan won a position as section percussion with the Civic Orchestra of Chicago and performed as a soloist with the award winning NU Percussion Ensemble in Stuggart, Germany, Chicago's Millennium Park, and at the 2007 PAS International Convention.In 2006 Dan was chosen from applicants throughout the United States as the recipient of the PAS Armand Zildjian Percussion Scholarship. That year he also became a two-time winner of the PAS International Convention Marching Percussion Festival College Keyboard Competition (2006, 2005), earned a Bachelors degree with Honors from Florida State University under the direction of John W. Parks IV and performed as a member of the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra. As an educator, Dan has worked with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra's MusiCorps program to promote the appreciation and understanding of classical music through interactive chamber ensemble performances in numerous Chicago Public Schools. He currently serves as the founding director of the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra's Percussion Ensemble and as a private percussion instructor for students of all ages throughout the Chicagoland area.
